Andrew Joseph Perez's Participation in MOVEMBER
When David Perez, Andrew Joseph Perez's father, was diagnosed with Cancer the day that Michael Jackson died, Andrew made a vow that he would do whatever he could do to help. Given that David's Cancer was caught early enough that he was able to enroll in an "Active Surveillance" study at UCSF (more here), his treatment consists almost entirely of lifestyle chances, foremost of which are a plant-based diet (see Dr. Dean Ornish's The Spectrum and The China Study by T. Colin Campbell). Ergo, Andrew became a Certified Personal Trainer and took on his father as his first client.

That wasn't enough, though. Andrew wanted something immediate and tangible. He discovered MOVEMBER. MOVEMBER is a month-long moustache grow-a-thon to raise money to fight prostate and testicular Cancer, and in recent years has expanded to include fighting mental health challenges that lead to suicide. The MOVEMBER Foundation takes donations from all over the world and sponsors over 1,000 organizations and programs whose collective goal is to stop men dying too young.
